Jodie.

Jodie

Jodie sat by the water,

With her head in her hands,

She cried salt water,

And her tears fell into the sand

Jodie don’t you cry,

Just because time is no longer mine,

Jodie, please dry your eyes,

Your future shines like a light

Jodie rose and took off her shoes,

Felt the cold water on her feet,

Thought the cold had gripped her heart,

And her life was incomplete

Jodie don’t you cry,

Just because time is no longer mine,

Jodie, please dry your eyes,

Your future shines like a light (so bright)

Jodie whispered her mother’s name,

Into the falling rain,

Remembered her dying words,

And the tears fell once again

Jodie don’t you cry,

Just because time is no longer mine,

Jodie, dry your eyes,

And remember me with a smile

(Instrumental)

Jodie don’t you cry,

Just because time is no longer mine,

Jodie, please dry your eyes,

Your future shines like a light (so bright)

This song came to me in just a few minutes, one day when I was practicing my guitar, way back in 1993. I had not long started to teach myself how to play the guitar so this is one of the first songs I wrote. Up until then, my usual instrument for composition was the piano.
