She moves through the fair

Hello friends!

I felt like being creative today and decided to record one of my favourite traditional folk songs called “She moves through the fair”.  You may have heard of this already. Here is the video:

And I thought I would include the lyrics here, in case you would like to learn it too.

She moves through the fair

My young love said to me,

My mother won’t mind,

And my father won’t slight you,

For your lack of kind.

Then she went away from me

And this she did say,

It will not be long, love, til our wedding day.

She stepped away from me,

And she moves through the fair,

And fondly I watched her,

Move here and move there,

Then she went homeward,

With one star awake,

Just as the swan in the evening moves over the lake.

The people were saying,

No two were ‘ere wed,

But one had a sorrow,

That ne’er was said,

She went away from me,

With her goods and her gear,

And that was the last I saw of my dear.

Last night she came to me,

My dear love came in,

So softly she entered,

Her feet made no din,

Then she laid her hand on me,

And this she did say,

It will not be long, love, til our wedding day.
